1. Do I need an account to use your API?
Yes. There are three different types of account for accessing the API:
- A free evaluation account can be created online to try out our solution. You can use this account to access our REST API
- A user acceptance testing account created by SlimPay and configured to your specific needs so you can test real-life payment scenarios before going live
- A live production account (the one you’ll use to collect payments!) created by SlimPay once:
Please note: an evaluation account may be automatically deleted after a certain period of time, while your pre-production account will remain operational even after you go live.
2. How can I access my account?
Your SlimPay account is accessible through three different interfaces:
- Our Dashboard user interface (also known as Back office)
- A REST Application Programming Interface (REST API) to integrate SlimPay into your application
- A file transfer interface (File Transfer) for processing batch files
Each interface has its own authentication mechanism and credential format.
- Login and password for the Dashboard (both provided by SlimPay)
- App name and app secret for REST API authentication
- Public key to connect to the File Transfer
3. What is the creditor reference?
A creditor reference is the unique identifier of your SlimPay account in our system, and is required for many of the operations available on our API.
4. What is an entity?
If your company holds one or more subsidiaries, you may want your payment flow to be divided by legal entity. Each entity will have its own unique reference in our system which has to be communicated along with the creditor reference already representing your holding company.
5. What is the subscriber reference?
SlimPay’s payment solution is not an enterprise resource planning application like SAP ERP, a customer relationship management platform like Salesforce or a relationship business management platform like Zuora.
However, SlimPay does offer a basic, yet powerful payment-to-customer relation via the subscriber reference parameter. This value must be provided by you and it should be unique per customer.
Even if you allow guests to pay in your application, you need to provide a subscriber reference. In this case, you can generate a random unique identifier to ensure the same reference is never used twice for two different guests.
You will find this subscriber reference when searching for mandates, payments and other reports to help you link data between SlimPay’s system and yours.
6. What currencies does SlimPay support?
SlimPay currently supports direct debits and credit transfers in euro (EUR).
7. What payment schemes does SlimPay support?
A payment scheme is a set of rules and technical standards governing the execution of payment transactions. These standards must be strictly adhered to by payment service providers like SlimPay.
We support the following payment schemes:
8. Which countries does SlimPay accept payments from?
The Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) was established in 2002 as an initiative to ease and improve the efficiency of cross-border payments in Europe.
As a SEPA scheme adherent, SlimPay accepts payments from all the countries which are part of the SEPA jurisdictional scope.
